"Uses"

He was using him.
He used him for sex and power and to feed his own hungers, that much was obvious.
He used him to talk, to listen to his thoughts and to convince him when he was being a jaded bastard.
He used him to tell him when he was doing the wrong thing, and to know when he should be doing something even worse.
He used him to laugh with, to share stories of far away lands with, under the stars.
He used him to lean against when the night fell over them and stained the white walls with inky shadows and made them seem so small and unimportant.
He used him as courage, a ballast to keep him above the ever surging tides of uncertainty, to face each day with conviction and purpose.
He used him to soothe him, to tame the frustration that rose inside of his chest, and all with a simple song played lovingly with skilled fingers.
He used him as his safety, a body to cling to when the world felt as though it might crush their already fragile existance.
He used him as warmth, his desperate body soaking in the heat of the other man's soft skin
He used him as a reason for being, hopeful that every day could bring them new experiences, new reasons to continue.
And as each day closed he whispered again in his mind that he was only using him.
Until the day came when he could be capable of more.
